What is Kufic Calligraphy Handwriting?
Kufi script-one of the oldest types of Arabic script, created at the end of the eighth century, after the establishment of the two cities of Basra and Kufi in Iraq. Kufi script played an important role in the further development of all Arabic calligraphy.
Until about the 11th century, the Kufic style was used to replicate the main style of the Quran. The Blue Quran is a typical example. Beginning in the 10th century, Kufa writing was gradually replaced by a lighter and faster writing-bold Naskh style strokes.
Kufic inscriptions can be seen on the frieze of the building, facing the glazed tiles, carved in the ganch, etc. Gradually, decorative inscriptions lost their informational meaning, starting in the 19th century. They began to be called gold and stone ornaments.
Kufic's writing style has very clear, specific geometric proportions. Strictly maintain the corners and width of the letters, the vertical lines do not perform well, and the letters are elongated horizontally. Kufic script is used for inscriptions on horizontal surfaces. It is generally applicable to paintings of any material: metal, silk, glass, ceramics, wood, etc.
